Core Services Group implemented the JDE transportation module at a manufacturing firm in the building products industry. The company’s requirements went beyond the original modules’ abilities. Core added a bolt on application to this module to include both a palatalization feature as well as a truck-loading / positioning element. The modifications allow the company to automatically combine like size boxes on a pallet, while simultaneously avoiding over loading, or damaging lower level boxes. This information is provided to the pickers before they pick so the pallets can be organized during the pick. Out of the box JDE provides cube and weight – but this client needed to know truck floor space. With known pallet sizes already established, the subsequent load positioning mod allows the users to determine exact pallet positioning inside the truck to avoid floor level constraints and retain first on, first off, integrity.
The implementation was implemented at the beginning of their busy season and resulted in the ability to process their trucks with half of their original staff, and a 25% reduction in total time Pick/Pack/Ship, and with much better accuracy.
